iPads and iPhones that run the POS
The Selflane POS runs on any iPad or iPhone that can update to iOS / iPadOS 16 or later. It's the software version that matters, not the screen size, so an iPad mini, a 10-inch iPad and a 13-inch iPad Pro all work.

What's included
Card terminals and readers
Take card payments on the POS with a PAX terminal, a Stripe reader, a MagTek reader, or Tap to Pay on iPhone with no reader. Each iPad picks its own card device in Payment Settings.
Printers on each iPad
Each POS iPad has its own list of printers under More › Printers, choosing which printer handles its receipts and which handle kitchen, bar, label and expo tickets. You can copy the list from another iPad and check or clear the print queue.
iPads that work (iPadOS 16 or later):
- iPad (5th generation, 2017) and later — including the 10.2-inch 7th–9th generation and the 10.9-inch / 11-inch models
- iPad mini (5th generation) and later
- iPad Air (3rd generation) and later
- Every iPad Pro (9.7-inch, 10.5-inch, 11-inch, 12.9-inch and 13-inch)
iPads that don't: models that stop at iPadOS 15 — iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4 and anything older — can't install the current app.
iPhones: iPhone 8 or later, including iPhone SE (2nd generation) and later. Tap to Pay needs an iPhone XS or later; it isn't available on iPad.
How it runs
- On iPad the POS runs in landscape and full screen (no Split View).
- To check a device: Settings › General › About shows the model, and Software Update shows whether it can reach iPadOS 16.
- Turn on Guided Access so staff don't leave the app by accident.
- Android isn't supported for the POS (see no-android-pos).
