Point of Sale
- Automatic service charges
Add a charge automatically to every qualifying order — a percentage such as a service fee, or a fixed amount such as a to-go utensil fee.
1 question
- Can we add an automatic service charge or a to-go fee?
- Yes. Add a percentage or fixed-amount charge to all orders, or only to some order types such as pickup or delivery.
- Caller ID
When the phone rings, the POS iPad shows the caller's number and caller ID name. One tap puts the caller on a new pick-up order and attaches their loyalty membership.
- Caller ID unit from CallerID.com on the phone line, on the same network as the iPad
- Card terminals and readers
Take card payments on the POS with a PAX terminal, a Stripe reader, a MagTek reader, or Tap to Pay on iPhone with no reader. Each iPad picks its own card device in Payment Settings.
- PAX card terminal
- Stripe card reader
- MagTek card reader
1 question
- Can we take card payments on the iPhone without a reader?
- Yes. Yes. With Tap to Pay on iPhone, guests tap their contactless card or phone on the iPhone running the Selflane POS app, with no reader. It needs an iPhone XS or later on iOS 16.4 or later and your Selflane card payment account with a reader location; it is not available on iPad. The first time, pick Tap to Pay on iPhone on the pay screen and tap Enable Tap to Pay.
- Cash drawer and cash handling
Decide how cash is handled: servers keep cash and settle at clock-out, or cash goes in the drawer and card tips are paid out of it — plus the starting float and drawer counts.
- Cash drawer and pay in/out
Review cash pay-ins and pay-outs, each drawer's expected versus counted cash (over or short), and past drawer sessions.
1 question
- Can we see if a cash drawer came up over or short?
- Yes. The drawers view compares expected cash with what was counted on the POS for each drawer and shows over/short, plus pay-ins, pay-outs and safe drops.
- Customer-facing and loyalty displays
More › Display Hub turns a spare iPad running the Selflane POS app into a guest-facing screen beside the register: a customer-facing display for the order, tip and signature, a loyalty sign-up screen, or a drive-thru display for a second staff member.
1 question
- Can the POS run a drive-thru lane?
- Yes, on selected plans. Yes, with the Drive-Thru Module add-on. On the iPad that takes orders, turn on Quick Service Mode and then Drive-Thru Mode (More › Settings) so new orders start as Drive Thru. A second iPad opens More › Display Hub › Drive-Thru Display to see that lane's new and paid orders, watch the order being entered live, and take payment. Each iPad's Station number sets its lane.
- Discount vouchers on the POS
Ready-made discounts staff can apply on the POS — a percentage or a fixed amount — optionally limited to certain days and hours, and percentage vouchers to certain courses.
1 question
- Can staff apply a set discount, like 10% off, at the register?
- Yes. Set up vouchers with a percentage or fixed amount, optionally only at certain hours; percentage vouchers can be limited to certain courses.
- Dish guides for staff
Write how each dish is made — ingredients, method and a photo — and staff can open it from a recipe button on the POS.
1 question
- Can new staff look up how a dish or cocktail is made on the POS?
- Yes. Write a dish guide with ingredients, method and a photo; staff open it from the dish's recipe button.
- Enter an order from the back office
Ring up a dine-in or pickup order from your computer: pick a time, add items with their options and notes, and place it.
- Floor plan and tables
Lay out your dining rooms: add tables with seat counts, drag them into place, and draw walls, entrances, restrooms and labels.
1 question
- Can we set up our dining room layout with table numbers?
- Yes. Add tables per room, drag them into place and draw walls and entrances.
- iPads and iPhones that run the POS
The Selflane POS runs on any iPad or iPhone that can update to iOS / iPadOS 16 or later. It's the software version that matters, not the screen size, so an iPad mini, a 10-inch iPad and a 13-inch iPad Pro all work.
- iPad or iPhone on iOS / iPadOS 16 or later
2 questions
- What hardware does the POS need?
- Yes, with iPad or iPhone on iOS / iPadOS 16 or later, Epson or Star receipt or kitchen printer (Ethernet or Bluetooth), Cash drawer connected to the receipt printer (optional), PAX card terminal, Stripe card reader, MagTek card reader. An iPad or iPhone running iOS 16 or later; any iPad size works. Add Epson or Star printers for receipts and kitchen tickets (a cash drawer connects to the receipt printer) and a PAX, MagTek or Stripe card reader to take cards. Everything must be on the same network as the iPads. The POS app doesn't run on Android.
- Will the POS work on our iPad? Does it need a certain size?
- Yes, with iPad or iPhone on iOS / iPadOS 16 or later. Any iPad that runs iPadOS 16 or later works, whatever its size — iPad (5th generation) and later, iPad mini (5th generation) and later, iPad Air (3rd generation) and later, and every iPad Pro. Older iPads such as the iPad Air 2 or iPad mini 4 can't install it.
- Message guests from the POS
Reply to guests' chats about their online orders under More › Guest Chats. From any order you can also text a receipt or an order-ready notice, or email a receipt.
- Open orders on the POS
The Orders tab lists the day's open and closed orders from the register, online, kiosk and delivery apps. Open any order to print, add items, take payment, or edit, void, cancel or reopen it.
1 question
- Can we reopen an order after it's been paid?
- Yes. Yes, for 48 hours after the order time. A closed order on the Orders tab shows Reopen, which puts it back to Ready so you can readjust a tip, void or refund a payment, or make other changes; print a new report afterwards. A paid order that hasn't been closed yet can be changed without reopening.
- Order history and order actions
See every order for a day, filter and search them, and open any order to refund, cancel, close or reopen it from the back office.
- POS app settings
Choose how the POS works day to day: business-day start, clock-in rules, order flow, quick-service mode, to-go types, gift certificate types, reports and the waitlist.
1 question
- Can we open a bar tab with a card?
- Yes. Yes, with a PAX terminal or MagTek reader: turn on pre-authorization (tabs) in POS Settings, tap Tab on the order (or Open Tab on the pay screen's card panel) to authorize the guest's card for an amount you choose, and apply the tab when they close out. When a tab grows past what was authorized the POS warns you, and on PAX (POS 7.5.7 and later) Increase Auth raises the authorization to the running total. All open tabs are under the card icon at the top of the Orders tab.
- Printers on each iPad
Each POS iPad has its own list of printers under More › Printers, choosing which printer handles its receipts and which handle kitchen, bar, label and expo tickets. You can copy the list from another iPad and check or clear the print queue.
- Epson or Star receipt or kitchen printer (Ethernet or Bluetooth)
- Cash drawer connected to the receipt printer (optional)
- Publish menu changes to the POS
After editing the menu online, press Publish to POS so every open register reloads the saved menu right away.
- Quick modifiers for staff (matrix)
Give staff a fast grid of add-ons on the POS — prefixes like No, Add, Extra combined with groups like proteins, sauces or toppings — without building a modifier for every dish.
- Receipts and kitchen tickets
Control what prints on customer receipts, expo tickets and kitchen tickets — copies, layout, font size, languages, logos and messages.
1 question
- Can kitchen tickets print in two languages, like English and Chinese?
- Yes. Give dishes a kitchen name in the second language and turn on Print both languages. Thermal kitchen printers always print item lines as graphics, which handles Chinese, Japanese and Korean; on impact printers, turn on graphic mode.
- Seating and table service
The Seating tab shows your floor plan with each table's status, plus a list of seated parties, reservations, online bookings and the waitlist, so hosts and servers can seat guests and open their orders from one place.
- Settings on each iPad
Each POS iPad has its own settings under More › Settings: what it prints, how it takes orders and tips, its language, sounds, register station, lock screen and delivery fee. Business-wide POS rules are set in the back office instead.
1 question
- Can the POS app be in Spanish or Chinese?
- Yes. Yes. Each iPad can run the POS in English, Spanish, Simplified Chinese or Traditional Chinese, chosen under More › Settings › General Settings › App Language. Not every screen is translated yet, so some labels stay in English. Menu items show as you entered them. Kitchen screens and printed kitchen tickets have their own language settings.
- Special pricing and happy hour
Discounts that apply automatically on chosen days and hours — a fixed price, a dollar amount off or a percentage off — for selected dishes, courses or whole menus.
1 question
- Can we run happy hour prices automatically?
- Yes. Create special pricing for the days and hours you choose, on selected dishes, courses or menus.
- Split and merge checks
Split an open in-store check evenly, by item or seat, or by dollar amount, then pay each check on its own. Merge checks back together, move part of a table to its own order, or combine two tables' orders.
1 question
- Can guests split the check?
- Yes. Yes. On the POS, tap Split on an open order to split it evenly (2 to 50 checks), by item or seat, or by dollar amounts, and each check is paid on its own. You can also move part of the table to a separate order, or merge checks and orders back together.
- Take orders on the POS
Ring up dine-in, pick-up and delivery orders (and drive-thru when it's on) from the Make Order tab: choose a table or a pickup time, add items with their modifiers, seats and hold times, attach the customer or loyalty member, then send it to the kitchen.
1 question
- Can we mark an order as rush so the kitchen makes it first?
- Yes, on Essential and up. Yes, if you use a kitchen screen. Tap the bolt while taking the order, or Rush on an order already sent; it moves to the front of the kitchen screen, under a ⚡ RUSH banner on the POS Kitchen Display or with a PRIORITY badge on Selflane Displays, and gets a red bolt on the Orders list. Rush doesn't change printed kitchen tickets.
- Tax rates
Set up the sales taxes on your orders, including tax-inclusive pricing, taxes that apply only to certain courses or order types, and rate changes scheduled for a future date.
1 question
- Can our menu prices include tax?
- Yes. Set a tax rate as inclusive and it's treated as already part of the price instead of added on top.
- Void and cancel reasons
Set the reasons staff pick when they cancel an order or void an item on the POS, and whether they can type their own or must add a note.
1 question
- Can we make staff give a reason when they void an item or cancel an order?
- Yes. Set your own reason lists and require staff to pick one, with a note if you want.
Payments
- Cash discount and card surcharge
Offset card fees by giving cash payers a discount or adding a charge for card payments — dual pricing, true cash discount, surcharge, service fee, convenience fee or non-cash adjustment.
1 question
- Can we offer a cash discount or add a surcharge for card payments?
- Yes. Pick dual pricing, a cash discount, a surcharge or a service/convenience fee. Check that your choice meets local law.
- POS payment methods
Choose which payment types the POS accepts — card, external card terminal, check, gift certificate, QR pay at the table and your own custom methods — and set payment safeguards.
2 questions
- Can we require a manager to approve voids after a check is paid?
- Yes. Card payments always need a manager to void them. For cash, check and external-card payments, choose whether a manager must approve right away or only after a 1–5 minute grace period.
- Can guests pay their dine-in check by scanning a QR code?
- Yes. Turn on QR Pay in the POS payment methods.
- Tips and auto gratuity
Set tip suggestions guests see, add automatic gratuity for large parties, and split tips between servers and the kitchen.
1 question
- Can we add an automatic gratuity for large parties?
- Yes. Set the party size that triggers it and the percentage.
Kitchen Displays
- A screen per station
Each kitchen screen can show only the items for its print targets (Kitchen, Kitchen 2–4 under your own names, Bar, Label), only certain order types, or only orders rung in at certain POS stations — so grill, fryer and expo each see their own — and it can also list what other stations still owe on the same order.
2 questions
- Can kitchen screens replace our kitchen printer?
- Yes. Yes. Screens route items by the same print targets your printers use, so nothing changes in the menu. To stop paper for a station, remove that station's kitchen printer from each POS iPad (More › Printers › the printer › Delete) and keep the items' print targets as they are — the screen still uses them. With no printer assigned, the iPad simply doesn't print for that station.
- Can grill and fryer have separate screens?
- Yes. Yes. Give grill and fryer items different print targets in the menu (Kitchen 2–4 can be renamed, e.g. "Grill" and "Fryer"), then set each screen's Print targets to its station. Up to six targets are available: Kitchen, Kitchen 2, Kitchen 3, Kitchen 4, Bar and Label. An expo screen can show everything, and line screens can list what other stations still owe on the same ticket.
- Orders in about a second
New orders reach every kitchen screen over a live connection within about a second — including Android screens that can't get push notifications — and the screen falls back to checking every 15 seconds if that connection drops.
1 question
- What happens to the kitchen screen if Wi-Fi drops?
- Yes. Tickets already on screen stay up, with a warning showing how old they are. The display keeps retrying and reconnects on its own once the network is back, then catches up on anything it missed — no restart, and it stays signed in. While offline it can't receive new orders or save an Order Up (a failed tap puts the ticket back and shows an alert), because orders reach the screen through Selflane's servers.
- Prep Display for bagging
A packing screen in the same Displays app: it shows what goes in the bag for each order, flags what the kitchen has finished, and lets staff tick items off or Pack All; it can also clear bagged items from the kitchen screen.
1 question
- Can we have a screen for bagging takeout orders?
- Yes. Yes — set any Displays device to Prep Display. It lists what goes in each bag, shows which items the kitchen has finished, and lets staff tick items off or Pack All. It can show online orders only, split work between two packing stations by print target, and optionally clear bagged items from the kitchen screen. It comes with the Displays subscription.
- Selflane Displays — kitchen screens
Kitchen screens that show every order — in-store, online, QR code, kiosk and delivery apps — live, color-coded by order type, with item timers, Order Up, undo, a prep list of what's still to cook, and a separate bagging screen.
- Essential and up
- Add-on: Displays add-on, $20/location/month, on the POS plan; included from Essential
- iPad (iPadOS 15.1 or later)
- Android tablet (Android 7.0 or later)
- Sunmi K2 15.6" kitchen display ($699.99, sold by Selflane)
3 questions
- What hardware does the kitchen display need?
- Yes, with iPad (iPadOS 15.1 or later), Android tablet (Android 7.0 or later), Sunmi K2 15.6" kitchen display ($699.99, sold by Selflane). An iPad on iPadOS 15.1 or later, or an Android tablet on Android 7.0 or later (the Android app is a direct download, not on Google Play). A 10" or larger screen, mounted and kept plugged in, works best. Or buy the Sunmi K2 15.6" kitchen display from Selflane. The screen needs internet access to receive orders.
- Can the kitchen screen be in Spanish or Chinese?
- Yes. Yes. Each display can be set to English, Spanish, Simplified Chinese or Japanese in Settings › Language (English until you choose). That changes the app's buttons and labels; menu items and notes show as you entered them. To show dish names in another language, give items a Kitchen Name in the back office menu — the display uses it.
- Do online orders go to the kitchen screen?
- Yes, on Essential and up. Yes — online, in-store, QR code, kiosk and delivery-app orders all appear on Selflane Displays on their own, with no printer or POS step in between. Displays is included from the Essential plan; on the POS plan it is a $20/location/month add-on you can turn on under Plan & Billing.
Self-Order Kiosk
- Self-order kiosk (Selflane Hub)
Guests order and pay on a self-service screen running the Selflane Hub app. Paid orders go straight to your POS and kitchen screens, and the kiosk prints the guest's receipt with a pickup number.
- Premium and up
- Add-on: Kiosk add-on on other plans: $60/month per business (US), CA$80 in Canada
- iPad or iPhone (iOS 16.4 or later), or Android 10+ device (incl. SUNMI kiosks)
- Stripe Bluetooth card reader (e.g. Stripe Reader M2)
- Epson or Star receipt printer on your network
1 question
- Can guests order at a self-service kiosk?
- Yes, on Premium and up. Yes, with the Selflane Hub app on an iPad, iPhone or Android 10+ device and a Stripe card reader. Kiosk is included in the Premium plan, and on other plans an owner can add it from Plan & Billing in the Back Office.
Online Ordering
- Blocked customers
Block specific customers by email or phone, with a reason, so they can't order online or book with your business. Remove a block at any time.
- Business hours and special days
Set your regular weekly hours and override them for holidays or events, so customers always know when you're open and when they can order.
2 questions
- Can we set different hours, or close, for a holiday?
- Yes. Special hours override your weekly hours for one date or a range of dates — either different hours or closed.
- Can we close between lunch and dinner?
- Yes. Each day can have more than one set of opening hours, e.g. 11–2 and 5–10.
- Catering orders
Take catering orders online from a dedicated catering page, with a minimum order amount and a required lead time.
1 question
- Can we take catering orders that must be placed a day ahead with a minimum spend?
- Yes. Set the catering minimum, a lead time in hours or days, and a daily cutoff hour.
- Commission-free ordering on your site
Pickup and delivery orders taken and paid on your own domain, with no commission. Card processing 3.4% + 30¢.
1 question
- Is ordering on our own website commission-free?
- Yes. There is no commission on regular orders from your own site or app. Online card payments cost 3.4% + 30¢. Diners pay a separate Selflane service fee on each online order (from 4%, depending on area), which is not taken from your sales. Good to know: a few optional extras carry their own fee — 3% on gift card sales, 5% on alcohol items and catering orders, and 5% on orders that use a coupon or promotion.
- Delivery with your own drivers
Offer delivery on your online orders using your own drivers: you set the delivery fee, minimum order, delivery area and lead time.
2 questions
- Can we give a delivery discount on bigger orders?
- Yes. Set up to two tiers that take a fixed amount off the delivery fee once the order passes a threshold — with your own drivers or with courier delivery. The discount comes off your payout.
- Can we deliver online orders with our own drivers?
- Yes. Set your own delivery fee, minimum order and delivery area (a radius or a zone drawn on a map).
- Hourly online order limits
Cap how many online orders and items you accept in each hour of each day, so a rush doesn't overload the kitchen.
1 question
- Can we limit how many online orders come in per hour?
- Yes. Set a maximum number of orders and items for any hour of any day.
- On-demand courier delivery
Deliver orders placed through Selflane without your own drivers: a DoorDash Drive or Uber Direct courier picks up and delivers.
1 question
- We don't have drivers — can we still offer delivery?
- Yes, through an integration. Connect on-demand courier delivery and a DoorDash Drive or Uber Direct courier delivers orders placed through Selflane. The customer pays the courier's delivery price at checkout. Available in the US only, where a courier territory is offered for your area.
- Online coupons
Create discount coupons for online orders: a percentage or dollar amount off, a minimum purchase, how many can be claimed, an expiry, and optionally first orders only or set days and hours.
2 questions
- Can we give new customers a discount on their first online order?
- Yes. Yes. Create an online coupon limited to first orders; there is a ready-made 'first-order welcome' template. The guest must be signed in for it to apply.
- Can we run a discount only on certain days or during our slow hours?
- Yes. Yes, for online orders. A coupon can be limited to chosen days and a time window (by pickup time, in your restaurant's time zone), and a weekly special takes a percentage off on chosen days of the week.
- Pause, delay or close online ordering
Control when online orders come in: set your prep time, start taking orders a little after opening, pause online orders for a while, or close the business temporarily.
2 questions
- The kitchen is slammed — can we stop online orders for an hour and keep serving dine-in?
- Yes. Pause online ordering for 10 minutes to 24 hours, or until a time you pick. Orders taken at your POS carry on; QR table and kiosk orders pause along with online orders. Resume Now ends it early. Orders from DoorDash, Uber Eats or Grubhub may keep coming, so pause those in each marketplace too.
- We're closing for two weeks to remodel — can we stop orders and tell customers why?
- Yes. Close the business temporarily with a reason. Online ordering stops and customers see your message until you reopen.
- QR code ordering at the table
Guests scan a QR code at their table or counter and order from their phone. Print one code per table, or one general code for the whole restaurant.
- Essential and up
1 question
- Can guests order and pay from their table by scanning a QR code?
- Yes, on Essential and up. Needs the Essential plan or higher. Print a QR code for each table; guests order and pay on their phone and the order knows the table.
- Weekly specials
Set a recurring percentage off online orders on chosen days of the week, for the whole menu or only selected categories or dishes, with an optional end date.
Website
- Edit your site's pages
Turn pages on or off — catering, our story, events, hiring, private events, contact — and edit sections in place: hero image, carousel or video, featured dishes, reviews, rewards, FAQ.
- Email on your domain
When Selflane hosts your domain, the owner can set up Google Workspace email records in Back Office. Microsoft 365, Amazon WorkMail or forwarding go through Support. The mailboxes come from your email provider, not Selflane.
1 question
- Can we have email at our domain?
- Yes, through an integration. Yes, through an email provider. When Selflane hosts your domain, the owner can set up Google Workspace's records in Back Office step by step. For Microsoft 365, Amazon WorkMail or forwarding, Support adds the records. The mailboxes come from your provider.
- Google reviews on your site
Pick reviews from your Google listing to show on your site; they become your own editable copies.
1 question
- Can we show our Google reviews on our website?
- Yes. Pick reviews from your Google listing in a review section of your site; they come in as your own copies you can edit, reorder or remove.
- Ordering for your existing website
Keep your current website and add an ordering-only storefront on a subdomain that links back home.
1 question
- We already have a website — can we just add online ordering?
- Yes. Storefront mode puts ordering on a subdomain like order.yourdomain.com, showing only your menu, reservations and gift cards, with your logo linking back to your main site. You can also copy an Order Online link from Settings › Share to add to your current website.
- Press coverage on your website
List articles and reviews written about your restaurant on your website's news page, each with the outlet, date, a short write-up, a picture and a link to the article.
1 question
- Can our website show articles written about our restaurant?
- Yes. Add each article with the outlet, date, a short write-up, a picture and a link; they appear on your site's news page.
- Social posts on your website
Feature your best Instagram, TikTok and Facebook posts on your website by pasting each post's link, with an optional caption.
1 question
- Can we show our Instagram or TikTok posts on our website?
- Yes. Paste the link of each post you want to feature — Instagram, TikTok or Facebook. You pick the posts; it isn't an automatic feed.
- We build it for you
Ask for a website and a Selflane rep starts it; we register a new domain or connect yours, build the site, and you follow progress — Domain registered → Building → DNS connected → Published.
1 question
- Will you build the website for us?
- Yes. Selflane's team builds the site and connects your domain, and you can follow progress in Back Office. Afterwards you edit pages, photos, colors and settings yourself.
- Website without online ordering
Turn ordering off and show a display-only menu in one of four styles, with or without prices and photos.
1 question
- Can our site show the menu without online ordering?
- Yes. Turn online ordering off and the site shows a display-only menu in one of four styles, with photos, prices, descriptions and dietary tags each shown or hidden.
- Your colors and layout
Choose one of 12 preset palettes or your own brand color, and a classic or centered-logo header. Fonts and section order are fixed.
1 question
- Can we fully design our own site — fonts, layout, custom code?
- No. Instead: Choose one of 12 color themes or your own brand color, a classic or centered-logo header, and which pages and sections appear; fonts, section order and custom code are fixed.
- Your own domain
We register a new domain for you, or connect one you own — the whole domain, or just order.yourdomain.com.
1 question
- Can we use our own domain?
- Yes. Yes. Selflane registers a new domain for you as part of your website setup, or connects one you already own — the whole domain, or only an ordering address such as order.yourdomain.com.
- Your own restaurant website
A full website on your own domain — home, menu, online ordering, reservations, gift cards, rewards and content pages — in your colors, hosted by Selflane.
2 questions
- We have several locations — can one website cover them?
- Yes. One site lists every location with its hours and its own order link, and guests can switch stores on the menu. Selflane adds the extra locations to your site for you.
- Can we remove the Selflane branding from our site?
- No. Sites carry a small 'Made with ❤️ by Selflane' footer, and the printable QR flyer from Settings › Share says 'Powered by Selflane.com'. Instead: Everything else on the site carries your brand — your domain, logo and colors; only a small footer credit remains.
Branded App
- Your own app in the App Store and Google Play
On request alongside your website: an iPhone and Android ordering app under your restaurant's name, logo and colors, published under your own developer accounts. Selflane builds and submits it; you open the store accounts and supply your copy.
- Beta
1 question
- Can we have our own app in the App Store and Google Play?
- Yes. Available on request alongside your website. Selflane builds the app under your name and colors and submits it; you open an Apple Developer and a Google Play developer account for your business and give us access, and Apple and Google review the app before it goes live.
- Manage your Google listing from Selflane
Connect your Google Business Profile in the Back Office to update your description, hours, special hours, website and phone on Google, post a closing-early notice for today, and read and reply to Google reviews.
Integrations

Connect your 7shifts account to keep employees, roles and departments matched, send timecards to 7shifts, and optionally send your sales totals for labor forecasting.
- Add-on: 7shifts integration: $60/month per location, on any plan
1 question
- Does Selflane work with 7shifts?
- Yes, through an integration. Yes, if you have a 7shifts account: connect it from the Team page to keep employees and roles matched, send timecards and sales totals to 7shifts. If you don't have one, we can help you set it up. The integration is a $60/month per location add-on on any plan.
- DoorDash, Uber Eats and Grubhub orders in one place
Orders from DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub and other marketplaces arrive on your Selflane POS and kitchen screens through StreamOrder, so you stop juggling a tablet per app.
- Add-on: StreamOrder integration: $99/month per location
1 question
- Can DoorDash and Uber Eats orders come into the same system?
- Yes, through an integration. Yes, through the StreamOrder integration: DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub and other marketplaces send their orders to your Selflane POS and kitchen screens, and your Selflane menu is published to them. Existing Chowly connections also keep working.
Reservations
- Online table booking
Let guests book online from your own booking page. You decide what can be booked, how many guests and tables, which times, and your refund policy.
- Power and up
1 question
- Can guests book a table online?
- Yes, on Power and up. Needs the Power plan or higher. Guests book from your booking page. You set party sizes, tables or seats, times, how far ahead they can book, and dates you're booked up.
- Reservation bookings
See booked tables and guest counts for each month, add or edit bookings yourself, and cancel with a refund or give a partial refund.
1 question
- Can we manage reservations in Selflane?
- Yes, on selected plans. Reservations need the Power plan or higher. Guests book on your public booking page; you see each month's bookings and guest counts, add or edit bookings yourself, and cancel with a refund.
Loyalty

Run your own member program: guests sign up, earn as they spend, and redeem rewards. The dashboard shows member sign-ups and points earned and redeemed over the last 30 days and lifetime.
- Essential and up
- Add-on: Basic Loyalty add-on: $30/month per location below Essential. Member email campaigns need Advanced Loyalty: included from Power, otherwise $120/month per location.
3 questions
- We have several locations — can members earn and redeem at all of them?
- Yes, on Essential and up. One member program can be shared by several locations; Selflane links the locations for you. Visits count across every location in the program, and scheduled member emails can target members by the location they joined. Loyalty is priced per location: included in the Essential plan and above; on other plans, add Basic Loyalty for $30 per location per month.
- Do you have a loyalty program for our regulars?

- Can customers join our loyalty program on their own?

Staff can also add members on the POS or in the back office. Included in the Essential plan and above; on other plans, add Basic Loyalty for $30 per location per month.
- Loyalty rewards catalog
Set what members can redeem their points for: reward items (for example a free drink for 20 points, with a picture) and dollar-off vouchers (for example $5 off for 100 points).
- Member email campaigns
Send members automatic emails on moments that matter, such as joining, birthdays, a visit or spend milestone, points about to expire, or not having visited in a while, plus one-time or yearly scheduled sends.
- Power and up
- Add-on: Advanced Loyalty add-on: $120/month per location below the Power plan.
2 questions
- Can we automatically send members a birthday offer?
- Yes, on Power and up. Yes. Set up a birthday email under member marketing; it goes out to each member ahead of their birthday (7 days by default), and can include a unique code and an expiry. Anniversaries work the same way. Included in the Power plan and above; on other plans, add Advanced Loyalty for $120 per location per month.
- Can we win back regulars who haven't been in for a while?
- Yes, on Power and up. Yes. A win-back email goes automatically to members who haven't visited in a number of days you choose. You can also send a one-off email to members who haven't visited recently. Included in the Power plan and above; on other plans, add Advanced Loyalty for $120 per location per month.
- Member list
See every loyalty member with their balance, visits or orders, and last visit; add, edit, search and remove members, and merge duplicates.
- Points or visits loyalty
Choose whether members earn points per dollar to redeem for rewards, or collect visits toward a reward such as $10 off after 10 visits. Both are always tracked, so you can switch at any time.
1 question
- Can we do a punch-card style reward, like $10 off after 10 visits?
- Yes, on selected plans. Yes. Switch the loyalty program to visits, choose how many visits earn the reward and its dollar value (up to $500), and set what counts as a visit. Staff redeem the reward on the POS app (version 7.7.2 and later). Included in the Essential plan and above; on other plans, add Basic Loyalty for $30 per location per month.
Gift Cards
- Gift cards
Turn your eGift card program on or off, offer a discount on eGift purchases, sell printed Selflane gift cards on the POS, look up any card's balance, and review cards sold.
2 questions
- Can we give a discount to people who buy eGift cards?
- Yes. The eGift settings let you add a discount with a title, a percentage off and a minimum purchase.
- Can we sell gift cards, both digital and plastic?
- Yes. Turn on eGift cards for guests to buy, and order printed cards with your branding from Plastic Printers to sell and redeem on Selflane POS.
Marketing
- Customer reviews and feedback
Read the star ratings and reviews guests leave on Selflane, reply to them, and open the order each review came from. Any written feedback recorded for your business shows alongside, with an email link when the guest left an address.
1 question
- Can we reply to reviews customers leave us?
- Yes. Yes. Reviews left through Selflane can be answered from the back office, and you can open the order behind each review. Google reviews are replied to through your Google listing.
- Event tickets
Create an event, sell tickets online, and track the sales. Each event gets its own public page, a countdown page and a QR code to share.
1 question
- Can we sell tickets for a special event, like a wine dinner?
- Yes. Yes. Create the event with ticket types, prices and quantities, set when tickets go on sale, and share its page or QR code. You see every buyer and the sales totals.
- Share your business links
One page with all your public Selflane links — online store, catering, table booking, loyalty program and waitlist — plus ready-made ways to promote them.
1 question
- Can we print a QR code for our counter so customers can order from their phone?
- Yes. The Share page makes a printable QR flyer for your online store. For a code per table, use QR Code Ordering.
Team
- Clock-out checklists
Write task checklists for each role; staff see them on the POS when they clock out, so closing duties get done before they leave.
1 question
- Can staff get a closing checklist when they clock out?
- Yes. Write a checklist for one or more roles; it pops up on the POS when those staff clock out.
- Meal break rules
Let staff take unpaid meal breaks on the POS, with a minimum break length and a minimum time worked before a break.
1 question
- Can we stop staff from ending a meal break too early?
- Yes. Set a minimum break length and choose to block an early return or just warn.
- Payroll report (hours, wages and tips)
For any pay period, see each employee's regular and overtime hours and pay by week and role, with card and cash tips, then download it for your payroll provider or accountant. Selflane does not pay your staff.
3 questions
- Can we send our staff hours and tips to our payroll company or accountant?
- Yes. The Payroll screen totals regular and overtime hours, pay and tips per employee for any pay period and downloads as CSV or PDF. The CSV is laid out one section per employee rather than as a payroll-import file, so your provider may need to enter the figures rather than upload them. Selflane doesn't pay staff or file payroll taxes; you hand the report to your payroll provider.
- Does it work out overtime for us?
- Yes. Hours over 40 in your payroll week count as overtime, paid at your chosen premium (default 50%, adjustable 0–100%). You also choose which day the payroll week starts. Only weekly overtime is calculated, per location: there is no daily overtime or double time.
- Can we see each server's tips for the pay period?
- Yes. The payroll report lists each employee's tips from the orders they rang up and any cash tips recorded on their timecards, alongside hours and pay. It needs wage access. If you use tip sharing, these are tips before sharing.
- Salaried staff in labor cost
Put an employee on a fixed weekly, monthly or yearly salary so their pay counts toward daily labor cost, even on days they don't clock in.
- Staff roles and manager permissions
Set up departments and job roles, choose which roles have manager permission, and pick which POS actions need a manager.
1 question
- Can we make certain POS actions need a manager?
- Yes. Yes. Canceling orders, voiding items or payments, discounts, refunds, tip and time edits, the 86 Items screen and table layout always ask for a manager. Under Manager Access Rules you can also require one for POS settings (More › Settings, Payment Settings and Hours), vouchers, redeeming member points, custom items and transferring orders.
- Staff scheduling
Build a repeating weekly schedule: give each employee a role, work days and shift times, and see the week's grid with hours per person.
1 question
- Can we build our staff schedule in Selflane?
- Yes. You can set repeating shifts per employee and role, and print or download the week.
- Timesheets and labor cost
See every clock-in by day or by week, fix or add timecards, and track labor cost against net sales.
4 questions
- If someone forgets to clock out, can a manager fix it?
- Yes. Managers can edit clock-in and clock-out times, add missing timecards, record breaks and cancel bad cards. Shifts over 10 hours are flagged, and an auto clock-out time closes any timecards left open overnight.
- Can managers run timesheets and schedules without seeing what everyone is paid?
- Yes. Wage access is a separate permission the owner sets per user in Users & Access: leave 'Can access wage and edit timecards' unchecked. Without it, a manager sees hours but not pay rates, individual pay, tips, salaries or payroll settings.
- Can we see labor cost as a percentage of sales?
- Yes. The timesheet day and week views show net sales, payroll and labor %, including salaried staff. The dashboard charts it against last week, the sales overview has a labor report for any date range, and the balance report compares payroll with sales by month.
- Can we track paid and unpaid breaks?
- Yes. Each timecard can hold up to 10 breaks, each marked paid or unpaid. Unpaid break time is taken out of paid hours in timesheets and the payroll report.
- Tip share
Set rules for how card tips are shared among roles — tip-outs or a tip pool — and see the penny-level split per day. It's a report; no money is moved.
1 question
- Can we pool tips or have servers tip out the kitchen?
- Yes. Set tip-out or pool rules by role; the daily split shows in the Sales report. It calculates the split — it doesn't pay anyone.
- Your team list
Add and manage employees in one place: their name on receipts, POS passcode, roles and hourly wage at each location, and whether they are active.
1 question
- Can one employee work at more than one of our locations?
- Yes. An employee can hold roles and wages at each of your locations, and a salary can be split across locations by percentage.
Reports
- Daily sales report
A full sales report for a day or a date range: net sales, tax, tips, fees, payments, service charges, taxes, sales by platform and order type, and sales per server, with PDF and CSV export.
1 question
- Can we export our sales reports for our accountant?
- Yes. The daily sales report, sales and item stats, the balance report, expenses, and most other report tables download as PDF or CSV.
- Expense tracking
Record expenses by month with a date, source, category breakdown and note, edit or delete them, and download the list as PDF or CSV.
1 question
- Can we track our expenses and see what's left after expenses and payroll?
- Yes. Enter expenses by hand with a category breakdown; the balance report then shows net sales minus expenses and payroll by month or by 13 four-week periods.
- Monthly sales report
Month-at-a-glance sales with a daily chart, guest counts, breakdowns, service charges, taxes and sales by platform, plus that month's operation memos.
- Performance dashboard
See today's sales so far, hour by hour, next to an earlier day you pick, plus the last seven days' sales and payroll against the seven days before.
1 question
- Can we compare today's sales with the same day last week?
- Yes. The dashboard plots today's sales or order count by time of day against an earlier day you choose, a week ago by default, and this week against last week.
- Sales and item stats
Monthly or weekly sales totals for a year, and item-level reports for a month or date range: items by P&L group and course, modifiers, ingredients used, discounts and discounted items.
- Sales overview
Pick any date range up to a year and see total sales, orders and net sales by day, a labor report against those sales, and a product mix report.
1 question
- Can we see which menu items sell the most?
- Yes. The product mix report on the sales overview and the itemized sales report in stats list quantity and sales by item, grouped by P&L group and course, plus modifiers.
- Sales, expenses and payroll balance
For a year, see net sales minus your recorded expenses and payroll, by month or by 13 four-week periods, with guest traffic and a PDF/CSV download.
- Voids and cancels report
For any day, see every action taken on orders and a summary of cancels and item voids by reason and by server, with PDF and CSV export.
1 question
- Can we see who voided or canceled orders, and why?
- Yes. The actions report lists each day's order actions and totals cancels and item voids by reason and by server. You choose in POS settings whether staff must pick a reason; actions recorded without one show as 'No reason'.
Account
- Users and access
Decide who can manage your business online: add people by email as owner, manager, POS or a custom role, and remove them when they leave.
1 question
- Can one iPad switch between our locations?
- Yes. Yes. More › My Shops lists every business your Selflane account can access. Tap one to switch the iPad to it, and staff sign in again. Reload Biz Settings re-downloads the current business's settings. To add a location to the list, give the account access to it in that location's back office under Users & Access.
Getting Started
- Create your business
Search for your business or its street address on Google and the name, address, phone, website, hours, place type and price level fill in where Google has them. Three steps — find, confirm, hours — then the business is created.
- Tell us what you want to run
Right after you create a business, a few short questions — how you serve or sell, what you want to run on Selflane, and roughly how big you are — tell us which setup steps apply to you and what to follow up on.
- Beta
- Try it before you sign
Your Selflane rep or sales partner can build a test store at your real address with your menu and settings. It stays off every public listing, and when you sign it becomes your real store — same link, menu and POS setup, nothing to redo.
1 question
- Can we see it with our own menu before signing?
- Yes. Yes. A Selflane rep or sales partner can build a test store at your address with your menu. It stays off public listings, and when you sign Selflane converts it into your real store, keeping the menu and setup.
